Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) is central at King’s CICM. We will listen to, collaborate with, and strive to serve the needs of patients and society.
We aspire to establish King’s CICM as:
- A strategic centre nurturing ICM talents and advancing innovation, including innovation in medical humanities and technologies, through research of excellence supported by philanthropic funding and other funding resources.
- A dynamic hub for exchange, collaboration and innovation among our
- Staff, with expertise in studies of Ageing, AI and Digital Technologies, Cancer, Cardiology and Vascular Biology, Clinical Studies, ICM, Medical Statistics, Medicinal Chemistry, Nephrology, Pharmaceutical Science, and PPI — our expertise and research remit will grow as the King’s CICM initiative develops;
- Honorary Advisors with complementary expertise in Acupuncture & TCM, Chinese Materia Medica and Herbal Medicine, Clinical Trial Design and Medical Statistics, Pharmacy, Pharmacognosy, Pharmacology, and PPI — our Honorary Advisors are international and national (UK) leaders of the TCM community and related studies.
- Given China’s vast expertise and unique leadership in TCM and relevant studies, we risk honouring a few but missing many if we choose to appoint Honorary Advisors from Mainland China; to avoid this, we refrain from appointing Honorary Advisors from Mainland China (except for those playing leading roles at international societies, especially GP-TCM RA). Instead, we look forward to developing pragmatic collaborations and strive to be their preferred British collaborators.
- Collaborators: From King’s CICM Fora, Website, Studies of Classic and Contemporary TCM Literature, to Clinical and Preclinical Research Projects, we will develop interregional, interdisciplinary and inter-sectoral partnerships tailored to the needs of specific projects. This evolving collaborative ecosystem constitutes a defining feature of King’s CICM and serves as a fundamental pillar of our success, with its scope and impact growing in tandem with project advancement.
For each project, we shall appoint a steering committee to advise on quality control. This committee will be selected from Staff, Honorary Advisors, Collaborators and Stakeholders, depending on the needs of specific projects.
